USFA LODD: Pennsylvania Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 02.22, 2015











Firefighter Edward Roddy, 48,  suffered from a heart attack on November 5, 2014 while at the scene of a fire and did not recover. He passed away on February 22, 2015.

Our condolences to the Roddy Family & Friends, the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department, and to all affected by Firefighter Edward Roddy’s passing.

USFA LODD: Houston FD Fire Captain On-Duty Death Notification 02.21.2015











Fire Captain Dwight W. Bazile, 57, on February 19, 2015 at 1845hrs, fell ill shortly after responding to a residential structure fire with reports of people trapped inside. Captain Bazile was operating inside of the structure with other firefighters when he began experiencing a medical emergency. He was able to walk out of the burning building under his own power, but collapsed outside shortly thereafter and went into cardiac arrest. Captain Bazile was immediately treated by fellow responders and transported to Memorial Herman Hospital where he succumbed to his injury two days later on February 21, 2015.

USFA LODD: Minnesota Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 02.18.2015












Firefighter Randy Hiti, 57,  was responding to a medical emergency call, on February 18, 2015 at 2110hrs, when he suffered a medical episode and passed away from injuries sustained. The cause of death remains under investigation.

USFA LODD: South Carolina Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 02.15.2015












On February 15, 2015 at 2100hrs, Kenneth M. Stanton, 52, was directing traffic at the scene of a previous vehicle accident when an approaching vehicle drove around emergency equipment and struck him. Firefighter Stanton was immediately treated at the scene and then transported to the hospital where he passed away from injuries sustained. The driver of the vehicle who struck Kenneth M. Stanton is being charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident.

USFA LODD: Georgia Fire Lieutenant On-Duty Death Notification 02.12.2015











Lieutenant Randy Parker, 46, on February 12, 2015 was pronounced dead at Medical Center-Navicent Health and at least five other firefighters were injured after a structural collapse occurred while fire crews were operating inside of a burning residential structure. According to media reports, the Bibb County coroner said Lieutenant Parker died from burns and smoke inhalation. Three of the injured firefighters are being treated at the Augusta Burn Center; one of the three was in critical condition and airlifted to the Center. The fatal fire incident remains under investigation by authorities.

USFA LODD: West Virginia Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 02.06.2015












Firefighter Garry Rose, 67, on February 6, 2015 at 2355hrs, was wheeling a patient through the doors of the Emergency Room at the Ohio Valley Medical Center when he collapsed and, shortly thereafter, passed way from an apparent heart attack.
  
Firefighter Garry Rose served the community with the McMechen Volunteer Fire Department spanned more than 30 years

USFA LODD: Illinois Fire Chief On-Duty Death Notification 02.05.2015












On February 5, 2015 at 1430 hrs, while attempting to close off Illinois Route 111 to allow for a helicopter to land safely for a medical emergency, Fire Chief Kenneth Lehr, 59, was struck by a fire apparatus as it was backing up. Fire Chief Lehr passed away at the scene from injuries sustained when he was struck.

USFA LODD: New York State Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 02.03.2015













Firefighter Charlie V. Wallace, 74, died on February 3, 2015 from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle on January 10, 2015 at 0745hrs. while directing traffic in front of the  Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department's fire station as apparatus were leaving for a response call.


Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department's Assistant Fire Chief John Hank said Firefighter Charlie V. Wallac had been a member over 40 years and was also the chairman of the board of fire commissioners.
  
In a statement, Assistant Fire Chief John Hank said, “It is with deep regret the Montgomery Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter Charlie Wallace. Charlie passed away last night due to injuries received while on duty on January 10th while directing traffic. He will be greatly missed. Funeral details are incomplete at this time. Please keep his family in your thoughts, may he rest in peace.”
   
Orange County, New York Executive Neuhaus said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wallace family during this tremendously difficult time. Charlie was a brave first-responder whose decades of voluntary service with the Wallkill Engine and Hose Company #2 of the Montgomery Fire Department touched the lives of many Orange County residents. Our community mourns his loss.”

Assistant Fire Chief Mike "Coop" Cooper, 61, died at home from a nature and cause of fatal injury still to be determined several hours after being released from the scene of a large structure fire in a commercial occupancy on January 30, 2015 at 1930hrs..
