Firefighters Respond & Battle A House Fire : 147 Matthews Street in Binghamton, New York July 13, 2026







A house fire broke out in Binghamton, New York on Monday, July 13, 2026 around 3:13 p.m. in the afternoon. The home on fire is located at 152 Matthews Street on Binghamton's West Side. After responding and 20 minutes into fighting the house fire on scene Fire Chief called for upgrading to a second alarm. Heavy smoke and damage could be seen from fireground of the home. Multiple emergency response agencies were on the scene. It was reported no one was home at the time of the fire

While battling the fire, two firefighters were overtake by heat exhaustion, and taken to the local UHS Wilson Hospital. The BC Transit bus was sent to the fire scene for use as a cooling station for firefighters who were battling the blaze. Outdoor temperatures on fireground were near 90 degrees.

Firefighters ask that people avoid the area while they work on the scene.

 
Binghamton Fire Department (BFD) stated that the fire caused more than 85 percent damage to the home. BFD informed the fire was so intense on one exposure side to the home next door that sides of next door home also caught fire, but were quickly extinguished.  

BFD says that no cause of the fire was determined, and is still under investigation. Also, no reports of any further injuries at this time.

Multiple Fire Departments & Firefighters Combat Fully Involved House Fire in Apalachin, New York 02.20.2026

 










Multiple Emergency Services Agencies responded to 513 Barton Rd in Apalachin, New York for a fully involved structure fire. The Tioga County 911 Center received the call at approximately 3:43 P.M..

Heavy black smoke & flames were observed by responding emergency crews responding to the fire ground from Route 17. Barton Road in Apalachin was closed down during firefighting operation near Muth Park.

New York State Police confirmed that everyone had egress from the home, but could not provide any further comment.

Apalachin, Owego, South Side, Campville, and Nichol Fire Departments were among those on the scene, as well as EMS, Tioga County Fire Investigation, and Multiple other departments from Broome County.

There is no report of any injuries that may have be sustained at this time.
