USFA LODD: West Virginia Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 06.21.2020

On Saturday evening, June 20, 2020, firefighters from the Iaeger Volunteer Fire Department, as well as several other departments, responded to the scene of a residential fire.  On Sunday, June 21, 2020, firefighters again responded to the same residence for a possible rekindle. While at the scene, Firefighter Russell K. Roberson, 42, evacuated a home owner from a second residence that had started to burn.  He became ill and while being transported to the hospital, passed away.  The cause of his death has not yet been determined.

USFA LODD: New Jersey Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 04.22.2020

On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, Assistant Chief Ronnie Cordero, 61, drove the fire department apparatus to a service call at a residence.  During that call, the crew came in close contact with the homeowner who stated that his son tested positive for COVID-19.  He also stated that he had just returned from the hospital with COVID-19 related symptoms.  The following day, the homeowner was transported by EMS to the hospital where he tested positive for the virus.  Some of the EMS and fire personnel that Assistant Chief Cordero came in close contact with during this call and other responses were then tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies.  Assistant Chief Ronnie Cordero was hospitalized on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, and passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, from the disease.

USFA LODD: Texas Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 06.09.2020

 

On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at approximately 1808hrs., Firefighter Klayton Manning, 18, driving the fire department’s ATV, responded to reports of smoke in the area.  While at the scene, he was approached by a man with a gun and was shot and killed.  Firefighter Manning’s cousin was with him and also died from gunshot wounds.  The assailant is in custody.

USFA LODD: Colorado Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 04.17.2020

On March 25, 2016, Fire Investigator Joshua MacDonald, 34, responded to a residential fire where he performed EMS care on an occupant of the home.  Later, he returned to investigate the scene of the fire, when he fell through the floor and his leg got caught in electrical wiring.  Since that time, he had undergone numerous surgeries, to include the amputation of his leg.  Fire Investigator Joshua MacDonald passed away on April 17, 2020.

USFA LODD: Pennsylvania Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 06.02.2020



On April 27, 2020, Firefighter Eric Gore, 49, responded to an emergency at a residence where he came in contact with a person with a known case of COVID-19.  He subsequently passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from the virus.

USFA LODD: Pennsylvania Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 05.30.2020

On Saturday, May 30, 2020, Firefighter/Chaplain Joseph Nealon, Jr., 58, experienced a medical emergency while on-duty at the firehouse.  He was immediately transported to the local hospital where he passed away.  The cause of his death has not yet been determined.
  
Our condolences to Nealon Family & Friends, Newport Township Fire Department, and to all affected by Firefighter Edward Singleton's passing.
