On June 5, 2019, the City of Roswell Fire Department was preparing for the community July 4th fireworks show. Driver/Operator Jeff Stroble, 46, was assisting with this preparation when an explosion occurred, injuring him. Driver/Operator Stroble was immediately taken to the hospital but passed away on July 21, 2019, from the injuries he sustained in the explosion.

On July 1, 2019, Chief William "Casey" White, 70, responded to a grass fire mutual aid call to a neighboring county at approximately 2130 hours. After returning from the call, Chief White retired for the evening at home around 2400hrs. The next day, July 2, 2019, he returned to the station at 0930hrs to outfit a new apparatus with equipment. Chief White was found deceased at approximately 1730hrs that afternoon on the bay floor near the apparatus.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, while attempting to fill tankers on a wildland firefight involving several local fire departments, Firefighter John C. Cammack, 74, fell from the back of a firefighting apparatus as it was escaping from wind driven flames that had switched direction and burned over their location. A second firefighter, Kyle Perez, was also hanging onto the truck as it drove through the flames and was injured. Perez said that after Cammack fell from the truck, they quickly returned to find him walking towards them, apparently badly injured. As they approached, Cammack first inquired to Perez’ condition, asking if the thirty-five year-old firefighter was okay. Cammack was then treated by fellow responders and both firefighters were transported to the hospital. Firefighter Cammack succumbed on Thursday, June 22, 2017, to injuries sustained. Perez was later released from the hospital.

Fire Captain Token Adams, 41, disappeared August 30, 2013 while riding an ATV and checking on a report of smoke in the Santa Fe National Forest. A week later after extensive search operations, Captain Adams was discovered by searchers deceased as a result of an accident involving the ATV.
Token Adams is survived by his wife, Heidi, 3 year old son, Tristan, his mother, a brother and sister. Fire Chief Jon Tibbets, 59, of the Sandoval County Fire Department on July 23, 2012. was enroute to administer a physical abilities test to a newly hired county employee at a location other than his normal duty station. While traveling on Interstate 25, Chief Tibbetts was struck by another driver causing the fire department vehicle he was operating to roll twice, cross over a retaining wall, and come to a final resting position on the vehicle’s roof. Chief Tibbets died at the scene of the crash from the injuries he sustained.
