USFA LODD - Firefighter Fatality Notification 02.09.2014













Indiana Fire Chief LODD: 













On February 8, 2014 at 1200hrs, Fire Chief James Joseph Knesek, Sr. , 59, passed away at home from an apparent heart attack several hours after responding to a motor vehicle accident.
  
James Joseph Knesek, Sr.  leaves behind his wife, Julie, and son, James, Jr., who is also a firefighter.
    
Our condolences to the Knesek Family & Friends, the Munster Fire Department and to all affected by Fire Chief James Johseph Knesek, Sr.'s passing.  
   
To date, 13 firefighter fatalities have been reported to USFA in 2014. Year-to-date monthly and annual USFA firefighter fatality reports are posted online at U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) Fatality Notices page. 




New York Assistant Fire Chief LODD: 


Assistant Fire Chief James C. Wilber, 58, on Feburary 9, 2014 at 0830hrs,  suffered an apparent cardiac event while responding to a motor vehicle accident call. James C. Wilber was transported by the Unadilla Emergency Squad and Cooperstown Medical Transport to the Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney where he succumbed to his injury a short time later.   

James C. Wilber is survived by his wife, son and sister.

Our condolences to the Wilber Family & Friends, the Franklin Fire Department and to all affected by Assistant Fire Chief James C Wilber's passing.
