USFA: New Jersey Line Of Duty Death 03.28.2013

Firefighter Jeffrey Scheuerer, 35, while conducting a controlled burn in Hunterdon County, at 1130hrs, on March 28, 2013, with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, was struck by a vehicle driven by a civilian. The accident apparently happened after the wind shifted causing heavy smoke from the controlled burn to reduce visibility on the road where Scheuerer was present. Firefighter Jeffrey Scheuerer did not survive the injuries he sustained when struck by the vehicle.
