USFA LODD: South Carolina Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 03.20.2016

Firefighter Christopher Gene Ray, 42, on March 20, 2016 at 1523hrs, was operating on the scene of a working residential structure fire when he was struck and killed by a fire engine. According to a preliminary description of the incident from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Firefighter Ray was riding on a Conway fire engine when he fell off and was struck as the fire truck reversed over him. The incident remains under investigation by local and state authorities.
Our condolences to the Ray Family & Friends, Conway Fire Rescue, and to all affected by Firefighter Christopher Gene Ray’s passing.
