Three-Alarm House Fire - Endicott New York 01.05.2015

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y.
A Monday night wood-frame house fire at 8 South Duane Ave. Endicott, New York causing significant damage. Multiple fire companies respond to a three alarm fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in the single-family home on Monday evening after responding at 5:20 p.m..



"When we arrived on the scene, there was fire coming out of the south side of the building, out of the first floor window, then heavy smoke blowing out of the front door," said Endicott Fire Capt. Donald Collins.

"The cold temperatures didn't affect us as much as a shortage of manpower affected us.  We had to wait for crews to arrive before we could actually start getting there safely," says  Captain of Endicott FD Donald Collins.













Firefighting crews were quick to put the fire out, however the house sustained extensive smoke damage, Collins said.

“We knocked the fire down,” Capt. Collins said. “There was concern there were still people inside, so we conducted search and rescue and found everyone had evacuated.”















Crews from Union Center, West Corners, West Endicott, Endwell and Vestal assisted, Collins said. The fire was out by 8 p.m.

There were no injuries to firefighters. The displaced residents, Four people were home at the time of the fire, including three children, are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
