USFA LODD - Connecticut Deputy Fire Chief Fatalities Notification 05.27.2014









While working his shift, Deputy Fire Chief David Fiori, 59, fell ill at approximately 2200hrs on Sunday (05/25/2014). Firefighters immediately provided medical care to Deputy Chief Fiori and then transported him to the Hospital of Central Connecticut where he passed away at approximately 0330hrs on Monday (05/26/2014).

 Family & Friends, the New Britain Fire Department, and to all affected by Deputy Fire Chief David Fiori's passing.

USFA LODD – Wyoming Fire Crew Supervisor Fatalities Notification 05.17.2014











Fire Crew Supervisor Ted F. Drake, 62, on May 17,2014 at 0800hrs, passed away from a reported heart attack while participating in a work capacity (fitness) test for red card certification, part of the wildland fire qualification system used by federal and most state wildland fire management agencies. Fire Crew Supervisor Drake, a career employee of Wyoming State Forestry Division, supervised and trained inmates called “Smoke Busters,” well-respected teams utilized to fight wildland fires and complete many other associated projects on both federal and state lands.

USFA LODD – Minnesota Captain-Safety Officer Fatalities Notification 05.10.2014












Several hours after responding, on May 10, 2014 at 0640hrs, to an early morning structral fire. Captain-Safety Officer David W. Millett, 62, fell ill at his residence passing away from a reported cardiac arrest.

Our condolences to the Millett Family & Friends, the Norway Fire Department, and to all affected by Captain-Safety Officer David W. Millett's passing.

David W. Millett is survived by his wife, Irene Millett; his daughter, Lynette Millett and son-in-law, Steve Bogart; his grandson, Marcus Bogart; his daughter, Donna Millett; his brother, Leslie Millett and sister-in-law, Vickie Millett; his brother, Duane Millett and sister-in-law, Robin Millett; his sister, Debra Carpenter and brother-in-law, Barry Carpenter; sister-in-law, Loretta Millett; and brothers-in-law, Billy Witham and Richard Boutilier. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. David was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Carroll Millett and Dean Millett; and his sisters, Linda Millett, Cheryl Witham and Minola Boutilier.

USFA LODD – Florida Firefighter/Paramedic Fatalities Notification 05.01.2014









Approximately four hours after going off of a shift, on April 23, 2014, which included several emergency response calls, Lieutenant Jeffrey B. Newland suffered an aortic dissection. Lieutenant Newland was treated and transported to a local hospital then flown to Health Park Hospital for specialized care where he remained for just over a week before passing away from his injury.
  
Jeffrey B. Newland is survived by his significant other, Beverly Ward; his 6-year-old son, Clayton; his 17-year-old stepson, Colton; his mother, Jane; and his brother, Jim.
    
Our condolences to the Newland Family & Friends, the North Port Fire Rescue, and to all affected by Lieutenant Jeffrey B. Newland's passing.
