USFA LODD: California Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 06.05.2017

Firefighter Kelly Wong, 29, fell from an LAFD aerial ladder while participating in a training exercise on the morning of Saturday, June 3. Fellow firefighters and paramedics rendered immediate medical attention and transported him in critical condition to a local trauma center.
    
Despite the heroic efforts of doctors and nurses at the hospital, Firefighter Kelly Wong succumbed to his injuries early Monday morning, June 5, 2017.

Our condolences to the Wong Family & Friends, Los Angeles Fire Department, and to all affected by Firefighter Kelly Wong’s passing.

USFA LODD: California Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 04.28.2017

Battalion Chief Jerome Boyd, 55, suffered a medical emergency on the morning of Friday, April 28, 2017 while on-duty driving in a fire department vehicle near Downtown Los Angeles. Battalion Chief Boyd was transported to California Hospital Medical Center by a Los Angeles Fire Department rescue ambulance. All efforts to revive him, however, were not successful.
  
Our condolences to the Boyd Family & Friends, Los Angeles Fire Department, and to all affected by Battalion Chief Jerome Boyd’s passing.

USFA: California Fire Captain/Paramedic LODD: On-Duty Death 08.12.2013








Fire Captain/Paramedic Matthew G. McKnight, 51, on August 12, 2013 at 0055hrs, was found unresponsive while on duty at the LAFD Metropolitan Fire Communications Center. Although immediately treated by colleagues who performed CPR, applied a defibrillator and instituted advanced life support measures, Captain McKnight was pronounced deceased at a nearby medical center a short time later. The nature of the fatal injury is yet to be determined.
