Initial Tone Out by Tioga County Fire Control;
Spencer, N.Y. (TFPFP) -- At around 12:24 PM EST,
Friday afternoon, the Tioga County Emergency 911 Communications Center dispatched
the Spencer Fire Department to 15 North Main Street for a reported structural
fire and smoke condition at the Spencer Shur Fine Food Mart. Due to the fast moving and extent of
the fire upon first arriving to the working commercial structural fire, a full mutual aid
response was initiated by on the scene fire command. Local area fire departments were called for mutual aid from Spencer, Candor,
Lockwood, Tioga, West Danby, Tioga County EMS, Community Fire and Rescue,
Waverly/Barton, Halsey Valley, and Campville Fire to the fire ground scene.
At one point in the fire
fighting operations at 15 North Main Street an evacuation order was call out
over fire ground radios to “evacuate the building” for all fire fighters working
inside the structure due to a unknown dangerous condition.
It’s unknown how the fire started at this time. The Tioga County Fire Investigation Team were called to the scene to begin investigating the cause of the fire. No known injuries have been reported at this time.
