Firefighter Charlie V. Wallace, 74, died on February 3, 2015 from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle on January 10, 2015 at 0745hrs. while directing traffic in front of the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department's fire station as apparatus were leaving for a response call.
Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department's Assistant Fire Chief John Hank said Firefighter Charlie V. Wallac had been a member over 40 years and was also the chairman of the board of fire commissioners.
In a statement, Assistant Fire Chief John Hank said, “It is with deep regret the Montgomery Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter Charlie Wallace. Charlie passed away last night due to injuries received while on duty on January 10th while directing traffic. He will be greatly missed. Funeral details are incomplete at this time. Please keep his family in your thoughts, may he rest in peace.”
Orange County, New York Executive Neuhaus said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wallace family during this tremendously difficult time. Charlie was a brave first-responder whose decades of voluntary service with the Wallkill Engine and Hose Company #2 of the Montgomery Fire Department touched the lives of many Orange County residents. Our community mourns his loss.”
