On September 18, 2015 at 2110hrs, Firefighter/EMT Daniel Edward Hampton was fatally injured when the ambulance he was driving struck the rear of a semi-trailer truck. His firefighter/paramedic partner, Timothy Pierce, and the patient in the ambulance both received injuries and were transported to a local trauma center for treatment. Investigation into the fatal accident continues by local and state authorities.
