Fire crews battle blaze in house on Best Street

BUFFALO N.Y. (The Buffalo News) — Buffalo Fire Department crews were fighting a fire late Wednesday in a two-story house at 543 Best Street.
The first call of the fire was made at 10:08 p.m. and firefighters still were at the scene as midnight approached..
There were no reports of injuries and no immediate information about any occupants of the house.

Mississippi Firefighter LODD: On-Duty Death 02.01.2014


Firefighter Dwight Hilton, 57, on February 1, 2014 at 1230hrs., suffered a fatal heart attack while fighting an outdoors fire that was threatening homes in the area. According to officials, the cause of the fire is under investigation and may have been intentionally set in several locations.
   
Our condolences to the Hilton Family & Friends, the East Central Volunteer Fire Department and to all affected by Firefighter Dwight Hilton's passing.

West Virginia Firefighter/EMT-1 LODD: On-Duty Death 02.01.2014





On February 1, 2014 at 1157 hrs., the Nutter Fort Fire Department responded to a rescue incident involving multiple patients due to a reported cell phone tower collapse on Murphy’s Run in Summit Park, WV. While rescuing a victim, Firefighter/EMT-I Michael Dale Garrett, 28, was severely injured during a secondary collapse. Firefighter Garrett was then transported to United Hospital Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Two members of the repair crew were killed in the initial tower collapse and two were injured. Investigation into the fatal incident continues by authorities.

Firefighter Thomas Gerald Lee, 67, on February 1, 2014, passed away at home from an apparent heart attack within 24 hours of responding to the station for a motor vehicle accident call on January  31, 2014 at 1033hrs..
    
Our condolences to the Lee Family & Friends, the Four Oaks Fire Department and to all affected by Firefighter Thomas Gerald Lee's passing.  
  
Thomas Gerald Lee is survived by his wife, Brenda T. Lee; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Lee and Mike Sherman of Four Oaks; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Rhonda Lee of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Michael Lee Sherman and Brock Currens; sisters, Kaye Wood of Benson, Rose Allen of Four Oaks; brother, David Lee of Benson.
