USFA LODD: Montana Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 08.24.2020


 






On Monday, August 24, 2020, Pilot Thomas Duffy, 40, flying a Type 1 Kmax helicopter, was conducting bucket drops while battling the White River Fire in Mount Hood National Forest, when his helicopter crashed.  He worked for Central Copters, Inc., a private family run company out of Belgrade, Montana, as a wildland-contract pilot for the U.S. Forest Service.  The official cause of the crash is under investigation. 

Our condolences to the Duffy Family & Friends, Central Copters, Inc., and to all affected by Firefighter Pilot Thomas Duffy's passing.

USFA LODD: Oregon Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 07.19.2017

On July 19, 2017 While part of a 20-person crew staging an initial attack on a forest fire in the Sealy Ranger District of the Lolo National Forest in Montana, Firefighter Trenton Martain Johnson, 19, was struck by a falling tree. Firefighter Johnson was flown to a Missoula hospital for treatment, but passed away from the injuries he sustained when struck.

Our condolences to the Johnson Family & Friends, Grayback Forestry, Inc., and to all affected by Firefighter Trenton Martain Johnson's passing.

USFA LODD: North Carolina Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 04.30.2016

On April 30, 2016 Firefighter Richard Sheltra, 20, died from injuries sustained while operating on the interior of a commercial structure fire at a strip mall in Pineville, North Carolina. A second firefighter was injured in the incident which remains under investigation by local, state, and federal authorities.
      
Our condolences to the Sheltra Family & Friends, The Pineville-Morrow Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue, Inc., and to all affected by Firefighter Richard Sheltra's passing.

USFA LODD: Pennsylvania Fire Police Captain On-Duty Death Notification 04.02.2015










Fire Police Captain John J. Doster, 82, complained of not feeling well while on the scene of a two-alarm warehouse fire in Hulmeville Borough, Pennsylvania. Fire Police Captain Doster was directing traffic on a bitterly cold evening with much of the main street of the borough closed for fire operations. Shortly thereafter, Fire Police Captain Doster departed for home. Within a few hours, John J. Doster’s condition worsened and he was transported to the hospital for treatment. Subsequently, on April 2, 2015, Fire Police Captain Doster passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Our condolences to the Doster Family & Friends, the Edgely Fire Company #1, Inc., and to all affected by Fire Police Captain John J.Doster’s passing.
