USFA LODD: South Carolina Firefighter On-Duty Death Notification 11.07.2018

On November 7, 2018, Assistant Chief Dennis Straight, 59, was directing traffic at an accident scene on the on-ramp to Highway 5 from the northbound lane of Highway 521 when he was struck by a vehicle. Life-saving efforts were administered on scene and Assistant Chief Straight was then transported to Springs Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

  

Our condolences to the Straight Family & Friends, Charlotte Road-Van Wyck Volunteer Fire Department, and to all affected by Assistant Fire Dennis Straight’s passing.
